We can use this for a variety of things, including moving the gag reflex to the back of the mouth, working on teething, and also working with children who have a proprioceptive deficit and chew as a means of sensory exploration. It's normal and healthy for a child to have a gag reflex, it's what our bodies do naturally to help prevent choking, And that's why babies have such a strong gag reflex since they are not able to manage solid foods until at least 6 months old.
